If I could give this book 17 stars I would.

The Companion:

The writing style pulls you in, it’s nice and easy to follow. Then the environment, characters, stakes are introduced at a pace that is comfortable. It’s done so in such an elegant way that it feels like you’re walking through a museum. Then there’s the delicious food descriptions and scenes of the characters in the kitchen bonding together, experiencing life, that really pulled me in.

I ALSO loved the SMUT. The spicy scenes in this book not only made me feel seen, but genuinely were realistic and amazing. This book shows a non traditional, complicated relationship and I LOVED seeing how the dynamics can work between three people, as this is still oddly considered taboo in society. I also loved the call out of the publishing industry for trying to put writers in boxes to write “what will sell”. I want to read girls kissing, it’s not niche. It will sell, and this book is a good bit of proof for that.

I had several book friends tell me this book was in fact amazing, so I also kind of had high hopes for this one, which made me weary.

This is an amazing read. Please pick it up. It’s a historical fiction romance, takes place in New York. And it’s truly amazing.
