How I Acquired Book: Library!
Pre-read Thoughts: This seems like a book I would heavily enjoy, we’ve got the romance aspect, the workplace environment, and it’s under 700 pages.
During Read Thoughts: Currently 30% through “The Build Up” and I am obsessed. This feels like going to a spa and getting pampered via reading, but then there is also pain these characters have felt that makes them very real, and then they are in the same workplace which adds a tension dynamic, and the food descriptions in the beginning, just thinking about them I am, my mouth is watering again. I didn’t even realize I was 80 pages in because this read just kept pulling me in, I usually look at the page number and percentage as a way to stay motivated with ADHD and focused, and this book is so engrossing that I forget to look at those percentage bars. Perfect length. Disappointed in myself for not finding this book sooner, since it was published in 2023……
Post Read Thoughts: This book made me laugh, made me cry, made me hungry, made me feel good, and had a HEA. I don’t know what more I could want in a romance book.

Full Review:
I enjoy workplace romances, so this book seemed like something I would enjoy. The writing style pulled me in immediately and I just could not put it down.
This book felt like going to therapy. I can’t even properly explain it with words from the English language, but I love this book immensley. I have a list of library loans I want to find in bookstores to cherich on my shelves forever, and this is getting added to that list. I need to re-read this yearly if I ever want a really solid romance book. Of course I had to download 15 other romance books after this one, as this book has changed the way I view romance novels and the genre as a whole. Mind blown.
Please do be aware there is a family member in this book that struggles with alcoholism, so if that is a trigger, please know that going into this book. There are a lot of other triggers for this book, but that one was one I personally struggled with a bit, so heads up.
